The New York Times best-selling series from Louise Penny set in Quebec, has, at its core, the best of human nature—love, friendship, kindness, community—blended with the worst of it. It is, after all, a murder series. (The books are beautifully narrated if you enjoy audio books.)
Inspector Gamache, the main character, has great depth. His leadership style is rooted in integrity, empathy, and humility. When he establishes a relationship with a new employee, he shares four sentences that lead to wisdom:
- “I don’t know.”
- “I need help.”
- “I’m sorry.”
- “I was wrong.”
You too have sentences that lead to wisdom rooted in your values. What would you (or do you) share with your team and employees–that lead to wisdom? Is there something you’d add or change in Gamache’s four sentences?
